On falling in love with Genzah Handmade Watercolours
Last year I made a friend I’ll keep for life. His name is Ryan Zimmermann. We met through paint. He makes paint and I, well, paint. He’d seen my work on Instagram and got in touch. He asked me if I’d give his watercolours a try. We made a trade – I sent him a few paintings for a sale he was doing, and he sent me his handcrafted paints to play with.
The paints came in a golden envelope. There was a note, and a red seal. Each block of paint was wrapped in a piece of watercolour paper, glued perfectly. Exquisite chiclets of paint! When I opened the paint there was a faint small of cloves. I almost ate them. Instead, I painted. I fell in love. These watercolour paints seep and travel on paper so beautifully. Every colour perfected and crafted by this little Toronto company is rich and vibrant.
Genzah Handmade Watercolours are made with beautiful glass tools, honey, cloves and pigment.
I’m grateful in these hard days to have this paint, to have this friendship. I’m grateful as I stay in and paint my heart out.
